Both clubs have not won a game for more than three years, suffering regular thrashings and goalless games but will meet as part of a promotional game between two of the state’s worst teams.
The winner will also take home $10,000.
But one side will get to sing its song for the first time since 2015 when they clash at Blackburn North’s Koonung Reserve on September 2 during the AFL pre-finals bye weekend.
The game has been organised through Sportsbet and will be broadcast through the bookmaker’s social media channels.
Former Western Bulldogs and Richmond forward Nathan Brown will also call the match.
Nunawading coach Paul Bevan said the clash would help boost the club’s finances.
“It’s probably a way of getting interest and a bit of support into the lesser, weaker clubs of country and metro footy,” Bevan said.
“While it is not an official game, at the end of the day it is still a properly organised game.
“Obviously not playing for points, there’s just a little bit of pride and a bit of fun at the end of the season for both clubs and some extra cash in the bank.”
Nunawading is on a 62-game losing streak, while Ardmona has been on the receiving end of many 300-plus-point defeats.
“They’ve probably been struggling more than us, I know they’ve had a pretty ordinary year this year as well,” Bevan said.
“From our point of view, as much as we want to help ourselves, we want to help them as well so it will be a good thing for both clubs.”
The game will start from 12pm and entry will be free.
