A Mildura hairdresser has avoided a conviction after she sold drugs to an undercover police officer last year.
Lara Scarrott, 23, pleaded guilty in the Mildura Magistrates’ Court on Thursday to two charges of trafficking a drug of dependence, these being meth and cocaine.
The court heard that Scarrott had shown commitment to getting better by attending a detox program and she had assisted police with their inquiries.
In September last year an undercover officer made contact with Scarrott where she told him that she could provide him with cocaine and ecstasy.
The two arranged to meet via Snapchat messages and in October they met in the carpark of the Mildura IGA where Scarrott and a co-accused sold the undercover officer 3.5 grams of cocaine for $1200.
A few months later in December Scarrott and the officer met again – this time she sold him 28 grams of meth for $10,500.
In February of this year Scarrott was arrested at her home.
The court heard that due to Scarrott being a young offender there should be no conviction recorded.
Scarrott was fined $800 without a conviction.
