An alleged sham doctor who is accused of pretending to be a hormone specialist failed to show up to her latest court hearing.

Keti “Kate” Cvetkov was, in 2022, banned by The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) from offering general health advice for life after an investigation revealed she depicted herself as an endocrinologist and offered medical treatment resulting in adverse outcomes for the patient.

Ms Cvetkov’s case was booked in for a plea hearing at the Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, but neither Ms Cvetkov nor her lawyers were present.

The court heard Ms Cvetkov’s matter was headed for a contest mention last year before she discontinued with her previous lawyers and entered a plea to be heard on Thursday.

The APHRA prosecutor told the court her office had not received any correspondence from Ms Cvetkov.

“It’s been a frustrating morning … it seems the accused wrote to the court requesting an adjournment because of her father passing away,” she said.

“We’ve been waiting for her in the foyer and gave her a call.”

Magistrate John O’Callaghan asked whether there was any evidence supporting her claim of her father’s death.

“Had she had lawyers, there would be evidence of the funeral’s notification,” he said.

“If it turns out it is not true, it will be exacerbating for her. Let me just say my point of view is that no further adjournments will be granted.”

The case will come back in front of the courts in May.
