Trevor ‘Trev’ Forsyth in hospital after allegedly being assaulted at Royal Mail Hotel

A second person has been charged after a teenager and another man allegedly bashed a much-loved publican during an alleged home invasion.

A teenager has been charged with the assault of a beloved Mooroopna publican.

Trevor ‘Trev’ Forsyth, who owns and runs the Royal Mail Hotel in Mooroopna, was allegedly attacked during an aggravated burglary in the early hours of November 24.

On Thursday November 28, police charged a 17-year-old with the alleged assault of Mr Forsyth.

He was charged with home invasion, intentionally causing injury, and theft,

He will appear at a Children’s Court in February.

The other man, a 31-year-old from Mooroopna, has been charged with home invasion, intentionally cause injury and theft.

He will face the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in February.

Both the teenager and the man were bailed.

Amee Henningsen, who works at the Royal Mail Hotel, said “Trev is awake, resting & recovering, he is going to be OK, thankfully”.

Mr Forsyth was transported to a hospital in Melbourne to be treated.

Mr Forsyth has run the Royal Mail for 13 years and put the pub on the market in October.

Under Mr Forsyth’s stewardship, the pub has focused on classic bistro food — parmas, chicken breasts and lambs fry and bacon headline the menu.

The pub, littered in Richmond football memorabilia, was renowned for having the “cheapest booze in the Goulburn Valley”.

The watering hole, which survived the horrendous 2022 floods, is located on McLennan St.
