A TERRIFIED witness was alerted to a Templestowe car theft at their neighbour’s house when they heard tyres screeching in the driveway.

A TERRIFIED witness was alerted to a Templestowe car theft at their neighbour’s house when they heard tyres screeching in the driveway.

The person later told police a man got out of a Toyota Camry and jumped in a Mercedes already occupied by co-offenders.

The brazen daylight robbery took place while the occupants of the house were at home at 2.55pm on July 21.

It is believed they entered the Ennersdale Court home through an unlocked front door while the homeowners were in a different part of the house.

They stole a mobile phone, handbag and car keys before taking both cars from the garage.

The Camry was abandoned in the driveway after the offender lost control of the vehicle.

Nunawading Sergeant Simon Webb said there were no descriptions of the offenders and the Mercedes was still missing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.

DONCASTER EAST

A 90-year-old man was shaken but uninjured after his Toyota Corolla slammed through a fence and into his neighbour’s house when he mistook the accelerator for the brake on July 23 at 4.10pm. He was attempting to reverse out of an Elizabeth St house in Doncaster East when he came to grief. The totalled car came to a stop inside the neighbour’s house. Sgt Webb said the man would have his licence reviewed.

WARRANDYTE

A blocked flue is being blamed for a fire at a business in Warrandyte on July 21. Firefighters were called to the Yarra St premises about 5.30pm after flames were seen coming out of the top of the chimney. They were able to extinguish the fire without any damage to the building.

WARRANDYTE A Donvale man has been charged with careless driving and overtaking when unsafe after a smash in Warrandyte on July 20. The man allegedly crossed double lines in Yarra St while it was raining in an attempt to overtake a vehicle about 1.30pm. The 35-year-old’s Toyota Yaris slammed head-on into a Volkswagen being driven by a 21-year-old Warrandyte woman, before colliding with an Isuzu truck being driven by a 33-year-old Surrey Hills man. The Yaris driver was treated for minor injuries while the other two drivers weren’t hurt. Sgt Webb said the man had been charged on summons.

TEMPLESTOWE

A woman turned down an offer to call an ambulance, instead using an Uber to get home after the vehicle had just rolled over her foot. The Box Hill mum was helping her children get into the Toyota Kluger in Templestowe Rd, Templestowe, on July 25 about 5.40pm when it rolled forward. The 42-year-old later took herself to hospital with minor injuries to her foot. Sgt Webb said police were investigating the incident.

TEMPLESTOWE

A man who had just been stabbed drove himself to a nearby McDonald’s where an ambulance was called after he asked for help. The 40-year-old was stabbed in the back at a Serpells Rd home in Templestowe. It is believed the man was attacked after a dispute with a 39-year-old man regarding an alleged affair. Sgt Webb said police are still investigating.
