A pedestrian was threatened with a knife before he was chased home by two men in a car as they tried to rob him in Mitcham.
The men drove the white Hyundai SR on the footpath of Brunwick Rd as they pursued their victim about 11.10pm on Monday, March 25, according to Nunawading highway patrol Sergeant Simon Webb.
The attempted armed robbery began when the 23-year-old Mitcham man was walking along the street and the car pulled up alongside him.

The driver and his passenger began talking to the pedestrian.
Sgt Webb said the men followed the victim a short distance before the driver stopped and got out of the car with a knife, demanding the man’s phone and wallet.
The victim refused to handover his possessions and ran off.
The driver got back in his car and drove after the man up on the footpath.
Sgt Webb said the victim reached his home address and the men then drove away.
Police are seeking any information about a white Hyundai SR with a registration plate that begins with the letter Z or anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

MITCHAM
An unlicensed driver was found committing more than one offence on Whitehorse roads on Wednesday, March 27.
The 37-year-old Cranbourne West man was pulled over by officers on Whitehorse Rd about 8.30am after police technology indicated the driver was possibly unlicensed. Leading Senior Constable Adam Slater said police found the man was unlicensed, and was also driving under the influence of drugs.
He was also wanted on warrants for failing to attend court hearings.
The man was arrested and taken in for interview, while his car was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1225.

A car was left up-ended following a crash in Mitcham on Tuesday, March 26.
A 23-year-old Glen Huntly man was driving a Toyota Corolla along Doncaster East Rd about 7.30am when he ran into a parked Ford Ranger.
The impact caused the man’s car to roll, but fortunately he was uninjured.
Nunawading highway patrol Sergeant Simon Webb said the man did not test positive for any drugs or alcohol and would be fined for careless driving.
BOX HILL SOUTH
A driver who lost control of his car in Box Hill South in the early hours of Saturday, March 23 can expect to lose his licence, according to Nunawading highway patrol Sergeant Simon Webb.
The 28-year-old Airport West man was driving his Toyota Hilux along Riversdale Rd about 4.30am when he veered off the road and went into the fence of a private property.
The driver then attempted to reverse back onto the road, but the car was wedged on a piece of the concrete gutter which had been dislodged in the crash.
Police arrived to find the man still in the car, and believed him to be “severely intoxicated”.
Sgt Webb said the man refused to provide a breath test or a blood sample and would be summonsed to court.
He said the minimum penalty for drivers who refused to be tested for their blood alcohol content was a loss of licence for a minimum of two years.
BOX HILL SOUTH
A 28-year-old Box Hill South woman was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital on Thursday, March 21 after she was hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing.
The woman was walking across Station St about 2pm when a 46-year-old Burwood driver ran a red light in his Honda Civic, striking the pedestrian.
Sgt Webb said her injuries were not serious, while the driver would be given a fine for failing to stop at a red light and would have his licence reviewed.
