A weddings and functions venue in Melbourne’s outer east has transformed into a drop-off donation point for a Manningham charity with more than 2000 items collected.

Warrandyte’s Bramleigh Estate launched its Drive-Through Food Drive after it was forced to close due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Venue owner Mary-Anne Lowe called for the public to drop-off non-perishable food and toiletries to be passed on to Doncare.

Staff have since delivered items weekly to the charity and the month-long initiative has collected more than 2000 items for needy Manningham residents.

Ms Lowe said she was thrilled by the generosity of residents and being able to pass on items directly to Doncare.

“They are aligned with the Manningham community and they put a call out because they were going to struggle to get people to give contactless donations while they were at home,” she said.

“With the drive-through service, people have been able to drop it off and run, and comply with the regulations.

“There’s been slabs of water, baked beans, beauty products, new pairs of socks, it’s been fantastic.”

Ms Lowe said she would collect donations for another week and encouraged people to donate cereals and snacks to help needy families with children heading back to school.

Bramleigh Estate is at 420 Ringwood-Warrandyte Rd, Warrandyte, and items can be left at the venue entrance.
