CROWDS of shoppers have flocked to The Glen to be first through to doors of international drawcard brands Uniqlo and H&M.

The centre officially unveiled 80 shops in its fashion and lifestyle precinct this morning, which is stage three of its $460 million redevelopment.

Japanese retailer Uniqlo opened with a drum festival, while staff at the popular fashion brand H&M danced to a DJ set before cutting the ribbon to the store.

Queues are still lining up to enter the major drawcard shops, while coffee and cocktails are being served at the pop-up Gin Gallery — supported by Healesville brand Four Pillars.

As well securing popular international fashion brands, owners Vicinity Centres lined up some exciting options for makeup fans with Mecca Maxima arriving in store in December.

Shoppers told Monash Leader about their excitement of the centre’s expansion.

Sharon Oon was in H&M shopping for her five-year-old son and said it was great the centre had opened more shops.

A fellow H&M shopper and mum said she and her friend had come down to try and snap up a bargain.

Another shopper said she had been at the centre early this morning for Uniqlo to open so she could buy a few things for her daughter.

Vicinity development executive general manager Carolyn Viney said the vibe was “electric”.

“The number of people who have queued is testament to how good the product is,” Ms Viney said.

Vicinity chief executive Grant Kelley said the collection of shops celebrated the best retail had to offer and was designed to elevate the customers’ shopping experience.

“Coupled with our fresh food market hall, which opened in late 2017, and the new food gallery launched in March, The Glen’s transformation towards becoming a market leading destination is well on its way,” He said.
