Box Hill development: Third tower of planned huge Whitehorse Rd precinct to be launched soon

It’s one of the biggest developments planned for Box Hill yet but few details have been known about the third of the massive towers that will make up Trio Box Hill complex until now.

Box Hill is yet again proving to be a popular destination for developers keen to put their mark on the eastern suburbs with towering projects featuring a mix of retail and residential.

Two luxury penthouses will be the crowning glory on the third tower of the latest major Whitehorse Rd development.

Planning is underway for The Trio Box Hill, with CBD Development Group likely to officially launch the latest element of the project next month.

The suburb is already home to the likes of Sky One which is the tallest building in Melbourne outside of the CBD.

Before Sky One reached for the clouds though, there was Whitehorse Towers which, at 117m tall was the highest building in the suburbs when it was built in 2017.

Developers are also looking at smaller scale projects off the main streets, with Carrington Rd also considered a great location for its proximity to transport and schools among the highlights.

For some it’s all a bit much with the Whitehorse Ratepayers Association lobbying council to slow down the rate of suburban development.

And apartment owner Phil Ward was moved to launch a one-man protest when he found out the Sky One building which he’d bought into could feature a nightclub.

Trio is similar in concept to Sky Garden in Glen Waverley, a development that also features three towers and a mix of uses.

Trio will replace the Spotlight and a KFC outlet which have moved.

The first and second towers were launched in recent months, with the launch of the third tower — expected next month — to reveal specific details about the 157 apartments.

All up the three towers will have 37, 30 and 18 storeys and have a combined 517 apartments, as well as 150 hotel rooms.

The buildings will be highly integrated, with the precinct expected to deliver seamless and diverse apartments.

Also on offer will be senior living, amenities, retail, supermarket, lifestyle and dining options.

CBD Development’s sales and marketing director for Trio Box Hill, Ricky Chen, said the complex would offer apartment-dwellers the benefits of being near Box Hill’s gardens and hospital.

“(It will be a) vertical city-style mixed development offering everything from apartments to luxuries penthouses and childcare to independent senior living,” he said.

“Diverse facilities including a podium garden, and proximity to one-stop shopping, dining and education means exceptional convenience.”
