Anthony Salvatore would be excused for focusing on himself after being diagnosed with cancer, but instead he has launched a fundraiser to raise money and awareness for cancer research.
The Bulleen man, 22, has raised more than $10,000 for the Olivia Newton John Cancer Centre and he’s not done yet.
More than 500 people are expected to gather at the St Clement of Rome centre in Bulleen for a huge fundraising event tomorrow night.

Mr Salvatore was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma earlier this month.
While the diagnosis was definitely not in his plans for 2019, Mr Salvatore said he wanted to do all he could to help others.
“I’m trying to make the most of this situation and turn it into a positive,” he said.
“It was a bit of shock and it’s been overwhelming.
“But the love and support I’ve got around me, from all my friends and family has been phenomenal.
“If it wasn’t for all the support and the background work from my mates, it wouldn’t be happening in the first place.”
The fundraiser is set to be jam-packed, with a DJ playing tunes and plenty of food and refreshments available on the night.
There will be about five hairdressers for attendees who wish to shave their head in support of the cause.
Mr Salvatore will shave his head, alongside about 10-15 friends.
It is believed AFL star from Melbourne Football Club, Christian Petracca will be in attendance and among those losing their locks for cancer.
“We wanted to make it a big celebration and raise as much money as possible,” Mr Salvatore said.
“It’s all about funding better outcomes for cancer research.”
There will also be T-shirts and merchandise which will be sold for donations on the night, as well as a raffle and an auction.
The fundraiser is on tomorrow, January 23 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at St Clement of Rome, Bulleen. All is welcome to attend.
Anthony Salvatore would like to personally thank everyone for their support, with special thanks to Chiara Moretta and Nathan Tribuzio.
