A serious criminal charge against a young Melbourne woman allegedly invovled in a home invasion has been dropped.
Greensborough‘s Carly Pirronelli fronted the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where the court heard the prosecution would withdraw the charge.
At a previous hearing, the court heard Ms Pirronelli had gone to a Kingsbury property in February with “intent to assault a person” and was subsequently charged and arrested.
Ms Pirronelli, who was also charged with cannabis possession, had been on bail since she was charged
Magistrate Belinda Franjic said the only charge proceeding would be possessing cannabis.
“The criminal charges, the charge of home invasion, has been struck out having been withdrawn by the prosecution,” she said.
The defendant’s lawyer made a summary jurisdiction application, which was not opposed by the prosecution.
Ms Franjic told the court she takes into account Ms Pirronelli’s “lack of prior conviction or findings of guilt”.
“I’ve granted summary jurisdiction on the charge of possessing cannabis.”
Ms Pirronelli will return to Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in November for a contest mention.
