A young mother narrowly avoided jail time after police caught her crushing a “rock” of meth under her foot after they arrived at her house with a search warrant.

Taneshia Parremore, 30, appeared in the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday where she pleaded guilty to a serious charge of trafficking meth, as well as possessing drugs, failing an oral fluid test, and dealing with proceeds of crime.

The court heard Parremore had “turned her life around” since the offending and had moved away from the Frankston area to give her and her daughter a better life.

In September 2022 Parremore attended the Dandenong court with her boyfriend.

When she placed her belongings through the security scanners, the security guards picked up a gold canister containing Xanax and another unidentified pill, which she did not have a prescription for.

A few months later Parremore was busted driving with meth in her system along McMarn Rd in Frankston.

In December 2022 Parremore was busted for her most serious offending.

Police attended her Frankston home to conduct a search warrant, and arrived just as she was leaving

When she got out of her car the court heard police saw Parremore drop a “rock” of meth and crush it under her foot.

Police also saw white crystal-like powder scattered all over the passenger seat of her car.

When they searched the car they found more bags of meth and a wad of cash worth more than $5000.

Inside the house police found more meth and items believed to be associated with trafficking, including scales and a book with names and dollar values written down.

The court heard Parremore had now turned her life around and was living in Traralgon and looking for work.

Magistrate Jacinta Studham said Parremore had been given “numerous opportunities to address (her) drug use”, and told Parremore she was looking down the barrel of jail time.

The court then broke for lunch and when the matter returned Ms Studham instead sentenced Parremore to a 18 month community corrections order.

“Before the break I was writing down reasons to send you to jail,” she said.

“You don’t understand how close you have come to a term of imprisonment.”

“Meth wrecks lives and this wasn’t street level trafficking.”

Parremore’s licence was also taken away for 12 months for failing an oral fluid test.
