Flowerdale: Driver identified after fatal crash in central Victoria

Police have identified a man who died at the scene after crashing into bushland on a country road northeast of Melbourne.

Police have identified a motorist who died following a collision in central Victoria.

On Monday, A Victoria Police spokeswoman confirmed a 35-year-old Flowerdale man passed away at the scene on Whittlesea-Yea Rd in Flowerdale.

It is understood the vehicle crashed into bushland at around 8pm on August 14.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was found deceased.

The spokeswoman said the circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers,” she said.

The fatality takes the lives lost on Victoria’s roads to 152 this year, which is 20 more than the same period in 2021.

There have been lives lost in regional Victoria so far this year, a jump of more than 23 per cent compared to 2021.
