Bendigo is preparing to host its first Easter Festival in two years as organisers urge residents to plan around road closures.
The festival had been held annually since 1871 but was postponed for two years because of Covid-19.
This weekend’s even will mark 150 year since the festival begun.
Bendigo Easter Festival Group reference chair and City of Greater Bendigo councillor Rod Fyffe said this year festival would return bigger and better.
It will include the gala parade on Easter Monday, an Easter egg hunt on Good Friday, the popular Rotary market on Friday and Monday, and the torchlight procession on Sunday.
“To mark the 150th anniversary, this year will be different from previous years with several traditional and popular events taking place on different days and at different times over four days,” Mr Fyffe said.
“I encourage residents and visitors to check out the program so they can plan ahead and know when their favourite events will be held.”
Motorists are asked to obey road closures.
