A group of teens allegedly attacked two shopping centre security guards in Traralgon before fleeing the scene.

Police allege the teens went to the Traralgon Centre Plaza on Grey St and assaulted the guards just before 2pm on Wednesday.

A police spokesperson said the workers suffered from minor injuries and the teens allegedly fled the scene on foot.

“Police located three teenagers near a railway station on Shakespeare St, where they were arrested,” the spokesperson said.

The group were interviewed by police, released and are expected to be charged on summons.

The spokesperson added police are still searching for two other teens involved.

Community members took their concerns to a Facebook Traralgon community noticeboard after the alleged attack occurred.

“I was there when this happened — it was outside coles and I was at the registers,” one user said.

“There was yelling and I think the teens were trying to get into the bottle shop — I didn’t see the hammer — but saw the security guard bleeding and thought maybe he was stabbed.

“He was helped into the hearing clinic and they closed the barrier — I got out of there quick because I didn’t know if they’d (the alleged attackers) come back.”

Another user said it was “crazy” in the shopping centre on Wednesday.

“One of the security guards quit on the spot and threw his radio in the bin,” they said.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

It comes after three other teens were arrested in an alleged assault at the same shopping centre in April.

Anyone who witnessed the attack or has more information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers Victoria on 1800 333 000, submit a confidential report online or contact the Traralgon police station on (03) 5172 2700.
