The victim of a homophobic attack after he painted his house in rainbow colours, is now offering free accommodation to frontline workers.

Mykey O’Halloran, who was assaulted and called a “guy c***” and “f***ing faggot”, is letting two nurses stay at his Phillip Island property.

The well-known Melbourne hairdresser offered up his house for the entire month of January.

To help out workers on the frontline Mr O’Halloran posted a message in a Phillip Island community page on social media, his doors are “open” while the property is unoccupied for the month of January.

“Free accommodation available to any front line workers needing to be on the Bass Coast in January due to the increase in cases and overwhelm with Wonthaggi testing centre,” he said in the post.

“So if anyone knows of any health care/front line workers that need to be in the area at the testing site at Wonthaggi for example, or if they need to isolate from their family/loved ones, my doors are open.”

There were 646 Covid cases in the Bass Coast on Thursday and testing clinics have been overwhelmed, with the Cowes site closing due to staff shortages.

Two nurses are now living at Mr O’Halloran’s three-bedroom home.

Mr O’Halloran’s home was decorated in April last year with the help of the local community after he was threatened at the property.

People came from as far as Melbourne to support Mr O’Halloran and his mission to paint his multi-colour house.

He will return to the property in late January when he returns home from a trip to Hawaii.
