A Gippsland family has been left planning a funeral just days after Christmas for a “beautiful” and “adventurous” four-year-old girl whose life was “taken too soon”.
Ivy Bella Roze was playing in the backyard of her Spring Ct home in Morwell when she managed to get through a weak fence to her neighbour’s yard on December 17.
Found unresponsive in their pool, the four-year-old was flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a critical condition, but she tragically died on December 28.
Ivy’s aunt Brittany Beeach, also known as Aunty Ditty, said her niece’s death still didn’t “feel real”.
“It’s just a horrific, tragic accident,” Ms Beeach said.
“It just should have never happened like this — it’s so hard to accept.”
Ms Beeach said Ivy fought hard in the hospital for 11 days, but despite efforts from medical staff, the damage to her brain was “far too significant” for her to recover.
“She gave the strongest fight, but she’s now at peace in amongst all this,” Ms Beeach said.
She added Ivy was “charismatic” and always the “centre of attention”.
“Myself and my husband got married just over a year ago now and you wouldn’t know it was our wedding day — she was the centre of the spotlight in all the photos,” Ms Beeach said.
“She’s just so loved and she’s going to be so missed — (it’s been) just waves of emotion.”
Ms Beeach said the “beautiful Emma Wiggle-loving superhero” made an impact on everyone she met.
“Her smile would brighten up everyone’s day on the darkest of days,” she said.
“She’s just the most gorgeous little thing ever — and her mum (Rhiannon) is just a mess as anyone would be.”
Ms Beeach said the cousins had played safely in the same backyard for the past 12 months.
“Unfortunately, our poor baby girl has paid the ultimate price,” she said.

She has created a GoFundMe page – that has raised almost $8000 — with donations to go towards Ivy’s funeral.
“We don’t want anything, but to make the brightest most miraculous day possible for our little superhero,” Ms Beeach said.
