Carter Webb: Gerogery fined over road rage attack in Albury

A tradie who blamed his anti-epileptic medication for stalking and abusing a woman who “cut him off” on an Albury road told his victim she was “unfit to drive”.

Police have released CCTV footage of a road rage attack in Flemington

A tradie said his anti-epileptic medication made him “foggy” enough to launch a violent tirade against a woman who “cut him off” on an Albury road, a court has heard.

Carter Webb, 22 of Gerogery, was fined in Albury Local Court after he pleaded guilty to recklessly driving a car on Riverina Highway and Borella Road on July 12.

The court heard Webb was driving at Thurgoona at 1.20pm when he beeped and tailgated a woman telling her she was “not fit to drive”.

Webb tried to get the woman to pull over but she was too scared because the accused was driving erratically.

Webb drove up beside the victim and yelled at her through the open passenger window.

The victim heard Webb say, “you cut me off, I’ve reported you, you are not fit to drive”.

The court heard the victim called triple-0 because she was “petrified”.

When she reached a set of lights at Young Street and Borella Road in Albury, an ambulance approached the two cars from behind.

Officers said they noticed Webb’s erratic driving and he was abusing the victim.

They told him to calm down and the victim stayed on the phone to triple-0. She told the attendant his registration number before later attending the Albury Police Station.

The victim was so shaken by the incident she could not give a police statement at the time.

On August 9, police contacted Webb via phone, who stated “the lady had cut him off” and that he would not speak to police without a solicitor.

Police rang Webb on August 11, where he said he did not want to be interviewed and he would instead attend the Albury Police Station.

By September 11, Webb had not attended the station and police called again.

Webb said he was going away and would come in after that.

On October 18, police made another attempt for a form of demand to be placed on the accused, who had still not attended the station.

He was convicted and fined $600.
