While it’s a long way from Hollywood, Melbourne has been the backdrop of many international movies over the years, bringing A-listers to our streets.
Zac Efron and John Cena are in Melbourne to film an upcoming blockbuster, visiting several locations including the suburb of Bundoora.

Robert De Niro
The famed Godfather actor visited Melbourne for a movie in 2010 and was sighted at many locations across the city.
Spring St in the CBD was transformed into Paris for the film Killer Elite, where De Niro filmed scenes in front of the historic Federici bistro.
Jason Statham and Clive Owen were also in Melbourne filming action thriller, which was based on the 90s novel The Feather Men.
The movie used several filming locations across Melbourne, including Healesville, Footscray, Hawthorn, Frankston, Armadale and The Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.
Kate Winslet and Liam Hemsworth
The Dressmaker was a 2015 blockbuster that was a very Aussie affair, starring two homegrown stars Hugo Weaving and Liam Hemsworth.
The lead role was played by Titanic star Kate Winslet, who spent two months filming in locations across Victoria.
The sights and sounds of Yarraville were featured in the film, with the Sun Theatre cinema one of the production locations.
The Dressmaker is set in a fictitious outback Australian town, where Winslet’s character returns after living a city life.
Liam Hemsworth played Winslet’s love interest in the film, featuring as a ruggedly handsome football player.
Nicolas Cage
This famous face is no stranger to Melbourne, having filmed two major blockbusters in the city over the years.
Ghost Rider and Knowing both used the city as a backdrop, filmed in 2007 and 2009 respectively, starring the Oscar winning actor.
Cage filmed scenes from Ghost Rider in various locations across Melbourne, including Marvel Stadium, where his character performed a motorcycle stunt jumping over a line of helicopters.
Russell St and Little Collins St also featured, as well as Melbourne General Cemetery and Melbourne Showgrounds. .
The film Knowing had scenes at Camberwell High School, Melbourne University and Melbourne Museum.
Dakota Fanning
The beloved classic Charlotte’s Web was filmed in Melbourne, starring Dakota Fanning who was 12 at the time.
The 2006 film, based on a children’s book of the same name, used locations in Williamstown and Bacchus Marsh for filming.
One of the most famous scenes, set at a fairground, was shot at the grounds of Heidelberg West Football Club and school scenes were filmed at Spotswood Primary School.
The film had an Australian premiere event, where Fanning walked the red carpet holding a real baby pig.
