Page 13: Who is South Yarra’s champagne swilling stalker?

You’ll find her hiding behind oversized Versace sunglasses in her BMW, or necking champagne at the bar — but France Soir’s elusive stalker has waiters running scared.

The handsome young waiters at South Yarra’s famous French brasserie are being ogled by a champagne swilling stalker.

This week, she was seen draining a martini glass before then turning to the bubbly straight from the bottle.

Hiding behind oversized Versace sunglasses, the South Yarra stalker sat in her up-market BMW hatchback outside the famed France Soir this week, where she has an eye for the waiters in their long white aprons instead of the menu.

The bistro owned by Jean-Paul Prunetti has had the rich and the famous and the great and the good at its tables.

Mick Jagger was once knocked back because he didn’t have a reservation, while Bruce Springsteen and Tom Jones managed to ring ahead.

Lindsay Fox and family are regulars with Fox son, Andrew, stepping out on the footpath to move on a bit of rough trade pushing and shoving in Toorak Road.

High-flying Melbourne barrister Philip Dunn and powerbroker Mark Casey also dip into the foie gras or sup the chilled oysters.

But back to the South Yarra stalker who hungrily eyeballs the waiters.

As one bejewelled customer whispered to Page 13, “Don’t make eye contact whatever you do and no sudden movement. Sometimes she comes in.”

On any given day the who’s who of Melbourne are dining at the bistro with the name of the famous French newspaper.

As the restaurant boasts it’s where “wins are celebrated, deals done and rock stars come and go.”

The wine list is the size of a Bible and treated with the same reverence. The bread basket is always full and the wine is always flowing.

Nothing has changed much since its opening in 1986 and that’s just the way its customers like it.

While we were perusing the wine list the stalker had finished off her champers and moved on to a hip flask.

Sometimes she sits at the bar and heckles customers. She was recently locked out of the restaurant when she got in through a back door.

Sacré bleu. How rude!
