Melbourne’s live music continues to go off, with Mushroom Group’s Matt Gudinski following in the footsteps of his father, Michael Gudinski, the late godfather of music.
A new collab with A Day on the Green founder Michael Newton kicks off this weekend.
The gigs, once dubbed the Big Day Out for grown-ups at Australian wineries like Mt Duneed Estate, have seen everyone from Elton John, Robbie Williams, Leonard Cohen and the upcoming Leon Bridges pumping up the volume at the open air festivals.
Now it’s Live At The Gardens, a similar live music fest to be held at the Royal Botanic Gardens, with acts from Friday night’s The Presets, to Tash Sultana and indie legend Chet Faker taking over summer, think a whole lot more fruit bats!
“It feels incredibly special to bring this new concert series to life at such an iconic Melbourne location,” Newton told Page 13.
Meanwhile Jack White, of the White Stripes fame, announced his Australian ‘No Name’ solo tour on Friday, with tickets to sell out fast for the twelve time Grammy Award winning artist’s show at The Forum on December 9.
He’ll also perform at The Corner Hotel on December 7, the very venue where he wrote the iconic riff for “Seven Nation Army” in 2002. This riff from Elephant helped The White Stripes reach rock superstardom.
Rock on!
