Newly engaged couple Garry Lyon and Nicky Brownless have returned from a whirlwind holiday to the Big Apple — arriving home with a big diamond to boot.

The couple were spotted at the arrivals lounge at Melbourne Airport on Wednesday after celebrating their first Christmas as an engaged couple in New York City.

It’s believed AFL great Lyon popped the question earlier this month on their Mornington Peninsula property with a photograph showing their initials and a love heart lit up on a field.

The couple, who keep a low-profile, were captured smiling at Tullamarine airport as Brownless showed off her new bling.

Brownless was married to former Geelong star and media favourite Billy Brownless for 18 years and they share four children — Lucy, Ruby, Oscar and Max.

Lyon, a former Demons captain, has three children from his previous marriage.

It has been eight years since Billy Brownless was left heartbroken after learning Nicky had got together with his then best friend, just 12 months after they separated.

Following a flurry of headlines and difficult times, they have all since repaired their relationships and have spent the past few Christmas Days together as a family.
