Former Channel 7 sports presenter Jacqui Felgate has given a blunt assessment on her shock decision to leave the network.

Jacqui Felgate announces shock retirement from Channel 7

Former Channel 7 news presenter Jacqui Felgate has shed further light on her shock decision to quit the network in April.

Felgate said on the night of her departure she was leaving to spend more time with her family and, while that is certainly the case, she has added some more detail as to the motivation behind her bold move in an Instagram Q&A.

Asked by a fan for tips if you are in a career rut, Felgate replied “I quit”.

Her to the point comment was written on an image of her in her 7 news days appearing to be doing a live cross with enthusiastic footy fans behind her.

Felgate is very much on an onwards and upwards trajectory since closing the door on the 7 newsroom.

There is no shortage of influencer opportunities being thrown at her, she is an in demand event MC, she has joined the Chemist Warehouse show House of Wellness as a co-host, and it would not surprise if she is back in a regular media gig by the end of the year after enjoying her well deserved break.

Block’s tradie SOS

The Block has put out a desperate call for tradies as the show fights to complete construction within its 12 week filming schedule.

The show, which is creating five luxury mini estates at Gisborne South this year, has hit social media trying to find tradies available to start straight away.

“We desperately need help completing the current series of The Block, Tree Change,” the Instagram post read.

“Carpenters, cladding crews, skilled labourers, trade assistants.

“Wages, casual, subbies, we won’t discriminate.

“Immediate start, 5 weeks to go.

“Location: Gisborne Victoria.”

The post was made on the Nine In Six Instagram account. Nine In Six is the construction company that builds The Block.

The show has faced a raft of challenges during production this year including filming starting a week later than expected after a contestant got Covid, the walk out of one of the contestant teams four days after filming started, shortages of building materials, and the production enduring freezing conditions with snow even falling on the set in recent days.

Packer’s former fiance joins OnlyFans

Billionaire Jame Packer’s former fiance Tziporah Malkah has revealed she is joining the adult content site OnlyFans.

Malkah, the I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here star, was known as Kate Fischer when she and Packer were Australia’s ‘it’ couple of the 1990s.

They dated for five years, were engaged for two of those years, and split in 1998.

Sydney-based Malkah, who was one of Australia’s top models in the 1990s and starred alongside Elle Macpherson in the film Sirens, revealed her new business venture on social media on Monday.

“Please keep up to date with the launch of my OnlyFans site,” she posted at the end of a birthday message to her father, adding that the page would go live on Tuesday evening.

OnlyFans is an adult only subscription site that has become an easy fast cash option for many reality TV stars including MAFS’s Jackson Lonie, Olivia Frazer, Jessika Power and Hayley Vernon.

Jetsetters to take seat at Masked Singer desk

The surviving member of The Masked Singer celebrity panel, Dave Hughes, has revealed he will be flanked by two international stars when the show returns later this year.

Dannii Minogue, Jackie ‘O’ Henderson and Urzila Carlson have all quit the kooky singing show’s celebrity panel with the mass exodus leaving the way clear for Abbie Chatfield to join the production.

But who will be sitting alongside Hughes and Chatfield on the guessing panel?

Hughes teased on his Sydney radio show that his new celebrity mates would be jetsetters.

“It’s going to be international superstars. Yes, more than one. It will be a game changer. It will be announced this week,” he said.

Could this mean Lindsay Lohan will finally return for a second season of the show?

While that would seem to be perhaps too much of an obvious choice, Lohan was good value on the first season of the show in 2019.

She had no idea who anyone was but her ridiculous guesses fitted her ditsy character.

She was expected to return in 2020 but those plans were shelved after Covid pandemic shut down international borders.

Teddy joins the Cumani stable

Glamorous international racing identity Francesca Cumani, who has been a regular fixture as part of the TV coverage of the Melbourne Cup, has given birth to her second child.

Cumani, who is based in Britain, gave birth last week to Teddy George Johnson, her first child with her partner Max Johnson.

Johnson is a businessman, racing enthusiast and triathlete.

“One week to the hour of you, Teddy George Johnson. Utterly delicious in every way,” Cumani posted on Instagram while cradling her baby.

Cumani was previously married to Australian polo player Rob Archibald with whom she shares a son, Harry. The couple split in 2018.

Channel 10 confirmed Cumani will not be part of the network’s Melbourne Cup broadcast team this year. For the past two years, owing to the Covid pandemic, she has appeared on the broadcast via a video link from the UK.

Ten is beefing up its Cup Week team by adding Eddie McGire into the mix for the next two years.

“Congratulations to Francesca and family on the wonderful news – Francesca will be staying home in the UK with baby Teddy for this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival,” they said.

“Network 10’s stellar commentary line-up for the 2022 Melbourne Cup Carnival will be announced very soon.”

Cumani is the daughter of famed racehorse trainer Luca Cumani. Her brother James is also a trainer with his stable based at Ballarat.

‘Celebrity’ boxing a money spinner

Celebrity amateur boxing is a trend at the moment, one that looks like it won’t be going away soon.

It is obviously and is a money spinner for all involved and is a handy profile boost for some of the contestants.

Ex-reality TV contestants in particular seem to be loving the chance to draw on their inner ‘Rocky’ and throw a few punches in the ring.

A long line of ex MAFS, Love Island Bachelor In Paradise participants have punched on at fight nights in Melbourne.

The next pair to square off will be recent MAFS graduates Brent Leon and Daniel Holmes. Those two will get in the ring for Team Ellis in Melbourne on October 15.

The most notable punch on between two ex MAFS participants actually happened out of the ring when Sam Carraro tried to flatten Bryce Ruthven in the crowd at a celebrity boxing match in Melbourne in December 2021.

Carraro was leaving the ring after taking part in one of the scheduled fights on the night. Ruthven was in the crowd and mouthed off at him. Carraro retaliated by trying to punch his ex-castmate. The crowd brawl made more headlines than Carraro’s official fight.
