Huge shake up planned for Masked Singer

A social media and radio powerhouse is rumoured to be joining the wacky singing show as part of a massive shake up to the judging panel.

Dave Hughes is tipped to be the only judge returning for the next season of the popular singing contest show.

A huge shake up is underway on The Masked Singer with a social media and radio powerhouse signing on and another celebrity tipped to be leaving the show.

Abbie Chatfield is probably thanking her lucky stars that she failed to bag a Bachelor, with her TV career moving into overdrive as she lands a seat on the popular Channel 10 show.

Chatfield is understood to be joining the show, filling the place on the wacky program’s celebrity panel vacated by comedian Urzila Carlson.

The celebrity panel this year is going to look radically different from 2021 with a strong rumour that Jackie O (Henderson) is also not returning.

Dannii Minogue confirmed a fortnight ago that she was departing the kooky entertainment offering that sees celebrities disguised in elaborate oversized costumes – such as a mermaid, a kewpie doll, a robot, a lion, a giant prawn and even a feather duster – sing while the star panel tries to guest who is behind the mask.

Dave Hughes is understood to be staying put on the panel as the exodus takes place around him.

Channel 10 declined to comment when asked directly if Chatfield would be joining the show and if Henderson was leaving.

Instead the network ventured that: “All will be revealed very soon.”

“The Masked Singer is Australia’s biggest guessing game. Who’s behind the mask? Who’s on the panel? All will be revealed very soon, so stay tuned,” Channel 10 said in a statement.

While 10 was playing a flat bat, it is understood that Chatfield, an outspoken and provocative podcaster and host of the Hit Network’s Hot Nights program, will be front and centre when the show starts filming in Sydney at the end of this month.

Chatfield came to prominence on Matt Agnew’s season of The Bachelor in 2019.

While she was the runner-up on the dating game, with Agnew choosing Chelsie McLeod as his match, Chatfield has wasted no time creating a hugely successful media career.

Apart from podcasting and hosting her national weeknight radio show Chatfield has dabbled in TV, hosting the Love Island companion series Afterplay for Channel 9 and won the 2021 season of Ten’s I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!
