The Melbourne stars vying for Australian Commercial Radio Awards

3AW’s star pairing of Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft lead a list of Melbourne radio talent vying for the industry’s top awards.

Melbourne’s breakfast radio kings Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft have been nominated as Australia’s Best AM On-Air Team in the Australian Commercial Radio Awards.

Stevenson and Howcroft, who dominate Melbourne’s breakfast radio shift with their 3AW show, will compete against FIVEaa’s David Penberthy and Will Goodings, and 4KQ’s Laurel Edwards, Gary Clare and Mark Hine for the title.

Gold FM’s Christian O’Connell is nominated against Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson (KIIS 106.5), WSFM’s Brendan Jones and Amanda Keller, Ryan Fitzgerald and Michael Wipfli from Nova 96.9, and Kate Ritchie, Tim Blackwell and Joel Creasey from Nova in the Best AM On-Air Team category.

Other Melbourne radio identities to score ACRA nominations include 3AW’s Neil Mitchell, who is up for Best Talk Presenter and Best Current Affairs Presenter and Tom Elliott, also from 3AW, who is nominated for Best Talk Presenter.

Nova 100 breakfast co-host Chrissie Swan is a finalist for Best Entertainment Presenter, alongside Gold FM’s Christian O’Connell and KIIS Melbourne’s Jase Hawkins.

Loren Barry from Triple M Melbourne’s Marty Sheargold breakfast show has landed among the nominees for Best Newcomer On Air.

James Brayshaw and Mark Howard, both from Triple M Melbourne, will vie for the Best Sports Presenter title.

The Australian Commercial Radio Awards will be held in Sydney on October 29.
