With the party season on full swing, crooner Rob Mills has lucked upon the key to love.

The singer and actor has credited sober dating for his current love-up state.

Mills says the success of his romance with Georgie Tunny is down to the fact they were daytime daters at the beginning of their relationship.

“I think the key to our success was daytime dating, sober dating, it was great,” Mills said.

“I was working nights, she was working mornings, so the only time we could see each other was during the day. We would go for walks, have lunch. We actually got to know each other.”

The pair met after Mills spotted Tunny on TV.

“I sent her a little direct message (on social media),” he said.

“I said I notice you have just moved to Melbourne and I know what it is like to be a new person in a new city and if you need a tour guide or someone to take you out for coffee, I would love to be that person.”

Mills finished up his role on Neighbours in mid-December.

“That was the end of my three years as the character of Finn Kelly,” he said.

“I have a lot of auditions coming up.”
