Alex Rance has been involved in a second shock this month, with the recently retired Richmond star separating from his wife, Georgia.

Alex Rance: AFL world reacts to shock retirement

Richmond superstar Alex Rance and his wife Georgia have separated.

It’s the second shock involving the five time All-Australian and 2017 premiership player this month.

The 30-year-old with the movie-star good looks said he was hanging up his boots at Richmond to focus on his faith and family.

“Now I feel is the right time for me to put the same time and energy into other areas of my life that need it and to prioritise the more important things to me, such as my spiritual growth, my family and friends,” Rance said at the time.

Rance and his wife, Georgia, are devout Jehovah’s Witnesses and married in 2012. The Perth couple sold their Brighton home in September in an off-market deal only a year after moving in.

Rance has plenty of interests outside football and set up The Academy three years ago with business partner Luke Surace to challenge what they saw as the “one size fits all” approach to education.

The elite college provides an alternative to standard year 11 and 12 schooling with a strong focus on football development.

Rance has also written children’s books, Tiger’s Roar, Rabbit’s Hop and recently, Monkey’s Tail.

He has drawn on his life experiences from the highs of the Tigers’ 2017 premiership to the lows of a season-ending knee injury against Carlton in Round 1 this year.

The Rances have kept a low profile after a man was jailed in 2013 for stalking the footy star.

The Melbourne Magistrates Court heard Scott Thomas struck up a friendship with Rance in 2011 after he contacted him on Facebook using a false name.

The court was told Thomas developed romantic feelings for the footballer and felt rejected when Rance asked him not to contact him.

He then went on to harass Rance’s sister.

Rance recently travelled to the US to take part in The Ocean Warrior course in California.

Focusing on self-care and mindfulness, the course was set up by big wave surfer Mark Visser.

Only in December last year, Rance posted a comment about his wife, “You’re a 10 darl!”

Sadly, the relationship has since broken down.
