Mum-to-be Logan Shine may be a footballer’s partner but she’s determined not to be tagged a WAG.

The business owner and partner of Western Bulldogs star Jason Johannisen said the term was demeaning and she was more than just an acronym.

“It has definitely been something that has ticked me off since Jason and I met and I was initially dubbed a WAG,” Shine said.

“I think as soon as you label someone as a WAG you take away all meaning of the person that they are and they are seen as an object or the person on the arm of a football player.

“I absolutely hate that idea because most of the time we are working behind the scenes supporting our partners and working on our own careers.

“It is disappointing to have that individuality taken away by being labelled as an acronym.”

Shine, 22, and Johannisen, 26, have been dating for two years and are deliriously happy to be expecting their first child in November,

“We are at such a great point in our life and just being blessed by a little baby; I can’t even explain how excited we are. Jason has wanted kids forever and it is a massive thing for him.”

Shine wowed at last year’s Brownlow Medal in a showstopping feathered gown by Melbourne designer Con Ilio.

But standing out from the crowd quickly introduced her to the cruel world of social media trolls.

“At last year’s Brownlow we did what we wanted to do. We did not like the stock standard dress code of the men wearing penguin suits and the women in a nice gown.

“We wanted to put on a little bit of a show and say, ‘This is how gorgeous these designers are, this is a stage for designers’.

“We definitely got a hell of a lot of backlash from it. The constant critique of you by people online is horrible, I can’t explain it. But it definitely taught me that I am going to need to have a thick skin if I am going to be in this football world.

“I am really hoping we get invited this year because having a bump to style around would be amazing.”

While not keen to be known as a WAG, Shine, who owns Sparkling White Smile in Yarraville, said she had ambitions to be a CEO.

“I have always had a desire to be my own boss. I am focusing on building my own business, building my own brand and having my family.”
