COULD James Hird be poised for late call up to Channel Seven’s footy commentary team?
Hird, who recently returned from overseas, has had his name popping up in various quarters in recent weeks with the Fremantle Dockers reported as contacting Hird about filling a Melbourne-based, part-time role as an opposition analyst.
Rumours in recent days suggested Seven was keen to reach out to former Essendon champion to sound out his interest an on-air role.

Seven would not comment directly on the rumours when contacted yesterday.
“Many media and sporting groups are knocking on James Hird’s door. He’s an intelligent, proven communicator with a unique perspective on the game from his time as both a player and coach. At this point Channel 7 has no further comment,” a spokesperson said.
