FORMER Hawthorn champion Josh Gibson can thank his encounter with an ostrich’s digestive tract for his invite to this year’s Logie Awards.
Gibson, who has signed on as an ambassador for the Bondi Protein Co., which is available at Chemist Warehouse, is heading to TV’s big night next Sunday thanks to his first — and according to him, his last — reality TV experience as part of I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! The I’m a Celebrity stint was part of his plan to help transition away from football after he called time at the end of 2017.

“It is a very big change in your lifestyle if you are used to getting up and having this routine and regimen and training, and for that to be gone, it can be tough for some guys,” he said.
“I have been lucky to keep myself busy. Part of keeping myself busy was going and eating ostrich anus (on the show), so I don’t know if it was the greatest way to fill time post-retirement.”
Gibson, who divides his time between Sydney and Melbourne, is also a keen horse rider and competes in campdrafting competitions. He is soon to launch a skincare range and commentates for Fox Footy.
But more reality TV is not on the cards.
“I think one’s enough for me,” he said.
