A footy legend turned TV great has been courted to bust a move on Dancing With The Stars.
Dancing With The Stars appeared to have been shelved when Channel 7 did not include it in its 2023 line-up at last year’s Upfront presentation.
However, the show is making a surprise comeback and will be on air towards the back end of the year.
Casting is very much under way with several Melbourne-based personalities being sounded out, including Footy Show star and former Geelong great Sam Newman.
Newman was intrigued by the approach, but declined.
“I was approached but due to a debilitating ankle injury I was not able to extend the conversation much further,” he confirmed.
Asked if he could dance, Newman responded with his tongue firmly in his cheek: “Can I dance? I reckon John Travolta has all my old tapes of me at the disco, I reckon he would have a compendium of my dance moves.
“I was well known at the old Silver’s Nightclub, Revolver, Heat,” he joked.
“I am surprised I was not asked by the Crown Entertainment Complex to come and dance every weekend to attract guests,” he quipped.
