BEAMING Rebecca Maddern has fallen in love with her jewel of a daughter, Ruby Mae.
Maddern and her husband, Trent Miller, have revealed their daughter was in a hurry to meet her parents, arriving three weeks early at 6.27pm on Thursday.
An elated Maddern, co-host of The Footy Show and Australian Ninja Warrior, said yesterday she was besotted with her daughter, as she settled into motherhood.
“Trent and I are completely smitten with our baby girl,” she said.
“She arrived three weeks early on Thursday, just in time for The Footy Show, weighing 3.4kg (7.5 pounds) and with a full head of hair.
“Everyone is healthy and very happy and we are just totally in love.”
Maddern told the Sunday Herald Sun last month that she had no plans to be superwoman and would not be breaking records to rush back to her on-air roles.
She has made no secret of how blessed she feels to be starting a family at 40 and wants to enjoy every moment of her daughter’s early months.
“I am in a really fortunate position with Channel Nine in that they have said, ‘take as much time as you need and return whenever you feel that it is great for you, great for baby and great for your husband’,” she said.
“I won’t be taking 12 months off, but I am not going to come back after two weeks or anything like that.
“I am 40 years of age and thankfully I am at a stage in my life where I don’t feel pressure that I need to go back straight away and be a superwoman.”
Maddern noted recently that she was making a unique type of history for The Footy Show.
“I was The Footy Show’s first lady and now I am going to have The Footy Show’s first baby — it is quite strange,” she observed.
Maddern, said in the same interview that motherhood had always been in her plans.
“Trent and I have for many years been focused on our careers. We have had lots of travel and we have worked really hard and the universe has decided this is the right time (to have a child) and we feel really blessed.”
