Kate Langbroek has revealed she had an opportunity to reunite with her long-time radio co-host Dave Hughes.

But Langbroek, who has recently returned to Melbourne after two years living in Italy, didn’t want to relocate her family to Sydney.

She is joining KIIS FM’s 3pm Pick Up while Hughes has started on 2DAY FM breakfast alongside Ed Kavalee and Erin Molan.

“Oh yeah we had conversations about that but I couldn’t say to the kids, yeah we’re coming back to Australia, guess what we’re moving to Sydney,’’ Langbroek said.

“He’s a workaholic and he has to work and he loves a challenge. He’s wired differently to me.

“It’s such a big challenge and he’ll be brilliant and Ed will be brilliant.

“I am going to have a quiet unremarkable life.”

Langbroek said her family’s adventure in Bologna was the hardest but most rewarding experience of their lives.

“We did it all ourselves, it was very challenging, magnificent, difficult, joyous, exhausting and uplifting,’’ Langbroek said.

“It went in the blink of an eye and feels like another lifetime ago.

“I love Italy and could not imagine I would not want to go back. But we squeezed another year out of it and there was a point where it wasn’t really fair to my parents and (husband) Peter’s parents. It’s only now we’re back I realised what a huge thing it was.”

Langbroek’s first gig since returning is helping to promote Melbourne’s iconic Chapel Street Precinct, which has seen a post lockdown renaissance of booming business over summer.

The mum of four stitched the words ‘Support Local’ on her sleeve, making unexpected visits to many Chapel Street Precinct businesses with a film crew capturing each of the business owners’ reactions for the Precinct’s latest campaign.

“I‘ve never been a significant shopper but to feel fabric and talk to someone and stop in the middle and have a bit of lunch … Chapel Street has been an integral part of my life as it has been for many in Melbourne,’’ she said.

“It’s changed a lot and it’s copped it so we just went, let’s go down and see. It was one of the most delightful days I’ve ever had. We did a glorious Chap lap from one end to another.”
