The races bring back special memories for Tom and Emma Hawkins.
Footy’s glamour couple used to host friends on the rails on Stakes Day when they first started going to the races together.
And with their daughters, Arabella and Primrose, they are now going to attend as the VRC’s family ambassadors for Seppelt Wines Stakes Day.
“Stakes Day was the first race day I ever went to as a child,’’ Emma said.
“I think I was six years old. When we first started dating, we hosted carparks on the rails for a long time with our friends. We have so many fond memories from teenagers to adulthood. It’s a special day.”
The Hawkins will celebrate at home in Geelong after spending more than three months away in Queensland in the AFL hub.
The whole family will enter Myer Fashions on Your Front Lawn and the Family Ties category.
“Definitely Arabella, she’s really keen on the dresses and loves getting her hair done by her mother,’’ Tom said.
“I love the races. The Cox Plate was run on Saturday (before the Grand Final) and I watched with a few of my teammates on the way to the game.
“The racing industry have done a wonderful job to have something for people to follow on the weekends. It’s an outlet for people to enjoy.”
