The Block will return to Daylesford after intervention by Victoria’s Planning Minister.
The Herald Sun reported in May the long running, hugely successful renovation show could be set to do an almighty backflip and return to the picturesque central Victorian town for its 2025 season, after initially struggling to get a planning permit for the property it wanted.
It has now been revealed state Planning Minister Sonya Kilkenny has intervened and given the green light to the project.
Confirmation of the Daylesford location by the show’s executive producer Julian Cress was reported on Thursday.
“We’re very excited,” Mr Cress was reported as saying.
“In the end it was picked up by the Minister’s office and approved.”
The Block originally had its eyes on a plot of land on the outskirts of the Hepburn Shire tourist town where it proposed to build five luxury homes for its 2024 season.
The land was, and still is, owned by Hygge Property.
When it became clear that obtaining a planning permit for the property would take months to get the green light, The Block upped stumps and headed to Phillip Island where filming kicked off in March this year.
The show was already searching for its next location by May.
Historically the production has liked to have the site for the following year’s series locked in around July or August of the year prior.
