Hit reality series The Block has been engulfed in drama yet again with a team leaving the long running renovation show just weeks into the filming of its historic 20th season.

It is understood one of the five teams taking part quit the show within the past fortnight, four weeks into the tight and unforgiving filming schedule, causing upheaval for the production.

A new team was brought in within days to fill the void left by the originally cast pair’s sudden departure.

It is believed the pair left of their own accord – as has been shown in past seasons, The Block is a demanding show to film and doesn’t suit everyone.

While there has been no official comment on the contestants or the departure of one team, no doubt the change in line up mid-production will be included in the show when it airs on Channel 9 later this year.

It is not the first time the show has lost a team, although in past season if a team quit it was much earlier in the filming schedule that in this most recent case.

In 2022, the tree change season set in Gisborne South, Bondi influencer Elle Ferguson and her partner Joel Patful quit the show just days after filming started.

They were quickly replaced by Ryan and Rachel Carr.

Rumours of the latest drama to hit the show emerged on fan forums on Friday night.

The show is set in a former resort on Phillip Island this year and locals are keeping a keen eye on what is happening at the massive construction site with numerous local tradies employed to get the five luxury homes completed on schedule.

The show settled on Phillip Island after plans to set the long running reality favourite in Daylesford had to be scuttled after delays in planning permits being approved for the site that the production had its eye on.

Scott Cam and Shelley Craft are once again hosting the series.

Channel 9 has been approached for comment.

Nine is yet to confirm the identities of any contestants taking part in this season of The Block.
