Planning approval opens way for The Block to return to popular tourist town in 2025

Could The Block be about to do an almighty backflip and return to Daylesford for the 2025 season of the long-running, hugely successful renovation show?

Stranger things have happened and in this day and age anything is possible.

The Block originally had its eyes on a plot of land on the outskirts of the Hepburn Shire tourist town where it proposed to build five luxury homes for its 2024 season.

The land was and still is owned by Hygge Property, but back in 2023 there was some form of agreement between the Nine show and the developer.

When it became clear that obtaining a planning permit for the property that the show was interested in would take months to get the green light, The Block upped stumps in August and headed to Phillip Island where filming kicked off in March this year and is nearing completion.

The show is already searching for its next location — could that road lead back to Daylesford?

Historically the production has liked to have the site for the following year’s series locked in around July-August of the year prior.

The Block bosses have said previously that they are constantly on the look out for appropriate and interesting locations for the show and often have several possibilities in mind before confirming a site for filming.

In December, the Victorian Planning Minister finally issued a permit to Hygge Property for five dwellings on lots of approximately 2,000 square metres at 1 Raglan Street, Daylesford and for the subdivision of 1 Raglan Street into six lots.

This was the configuration contained in the original Block designs that accompanied the permit application early last year.

When contacted about the future of the former Block-linked land, Hygge said it remained part of a larger development they were working on in Daylesford.

Nine played a flat bat when asked if The Block would consider revisiting its Daylesford dream.

“We do not speculate on the location of future series of The Block,” a spokesperson said.

The Block has previously been filmed in Brighton, South Melbourne, South Yarra, St Kilda, Richmond, Windsor, Hampton East, Gisborne South and, currently, Phillip Island.
