The Block buyer Adrian Portelli has vowed to remove some of the contents of the three homes he’s purchased in Hampton East.
It comes after controversy erupted when he took out around $100,000 worth of items from the fully furnished Gisborne property he gave away after the last series of the show.
He bought that house for $4.25m and then offered it for free through his online shopping discounts and giveaway business LMCT+.
The people who won the home, Kevin and Andrea Griffin, said they were dismayed by Portelli’s actions.
He then ran a $1 raffle for all the items that were taken, with all the money going to helping homeless Australians.
Portelli is planning to give away the houses and the items.
“I will take out the contents and I’m happy to film it,” he said.
“It’s one in a million person who would complain. I don’t think anyone who gets these houses is going to have an issue.”
Portelli spent a total of $12.4m on three houses at The Block auctions at the weekend.
But the Melbourne billionaire said he wouldn’t live in one as “it’s too upper class” for him.
“I was bidding against myself just for fun,’’ he said.
“It’s good publicity for my business and it’s ironic the biggest rating show in Australia and only a small percentage of people can afford the houses. I’m happy to flip the bill.”
Portelli splurged $39m on a city penthouse earlier this year.
