Stand-up comedy show starring Mick Molloy, Marty Sheargold, Sam Pang and Lawrence Mooney

Front Bar co-host Mick Molloy has announced details of a new show featuring Sam Pang, Lawrence Mooney, and Marty Sheargold.

Molloy – I think I have been sacked by every network

Mick Molloy is returning to stand-up comedy in a supershow alongside Sam Pang,Lawrence Mooney, and Marty Sheargold.

Molloy, a broadcaster and writer, rarely does stand-up shows, but told the Herald Sun: “I’m so excited to be doing a national tour with some of Australia’s finest comedians. And Sam Pang.”

Promoters A-list Entertainment said: “Four comedy superstars in the one massive show … team up for a no-holds barred good, old fashioned stand up comedy. Radio, television, film, podcasts, they’ve done it all, and now they bring the laughs to the stage.”

The funnyman foursome will perform at the Palais Theatre on November 4.

In the past, Molloy has said returning to stage keeps him honest.

“It’s a very real, brutal form of entertainment,” Molloy said. “As a comedian, there aren’t many opportunities to hear people laughing at you.”

“There’s something very basic and raw about trying to make a roomful of people laugh when you’ve got nothing other than a microphone.

“The reason you become a comedian is to make people laugh. To know you are actually doing it is helpful.”

Molloy started in stand up comedy, before leaping to television, film and radio success. Molloy and Pang co-host The Front Bar on Channel 7.

Pang and Sheargold are also breakfast radio broadcasters.

Mooney is a former radio host.

“I think people kind of graduate from live (stand-up) to TV to film and to radio, and it’s a constant circle of life in the comedy community.”

He added: “The world of stand-up has always been a bit of a home for lost souls. It attracts a diverse range of people sometimes very needy people. But the people I end up working with, you can’t afford to be competitive with each other, it’s more important that the show’s great.”
