Actor Nicola Charles thinks Donald Trump is the best US president in modern history — and Sam Newman has wasted no time singing her praises.

Sam Newman has praised former Neighbours star Nicola Charles for describing Donald Trump as the best president in modern history.

Charles has drawn the ire of her social media followers for the post on Saturday where she called Trump “the voice of the people”.

She wrote: “We have watched on from Australia & cannot believe this happened in America Big tech should have been dealt with 1st day in office. Appalling control and bias. You were the best President in modern history & thank you for being the voice of the people. My 2 American kids love you.”

Charles said her comment, which she backed up on Sunday, had her called a racist 1400 times in 12 hours.

“Someone needs to steady America & fast,’’ she wrote.

Newman, the former TV larrikin and co-host of the You Cannot Be Serious podcast, tweeted: “At last. Someone with some guts. Nicola Charles aka Sarah Beaumont of ‘Neighbours’, says Trump — the best President ever. Smart, articulate AND good looking. She’s got it all.”

Trump’s account has been permanently suspended by Twitter after he used the social networking site to fuel his rise to political prominence.

It was also a punishment for his role in inciting violence at the US Capitol last week.

Newman has long been a supporter of Trump who says he will vacate the White House peacefully on January 20 when Joe Biden becomes US President.
