Sam Newman banned from Twitter after abusive tweet

Sam Newman is no stranger to making controversial comments, but his latest remark has seen him sent to Twitter’s naughty corner.

Sam Newman has been banned from Twitter after calling a social media users who posted a derogatory comment about him a “c---”.

Newman took umbrage to a comment where he was called the c-word on the social media platform by a Twitter user who saw him driving in Port Melbourne. He returned fire with an equally strongly worded and colourful comment telling the anti-fan that the only c--- he would see was when he looked in the mirror.

While the original post was not sanctioned, Newman’s response, which was posted about two weeks ago, was the subject of a complaint to Twitter and late last week the social media giant reacted by suspending his account for six days.

It is the second time Newman has been put in Twitter’s naughty corner for his pointed comments and expressive language.

But the ban will not mellow the former Footy Show headline magnet.

“I could not give a stuff,” Newman said.

“I don’t know why they think it is a penalty being kicked off Twitter. I could not care less. I do Twitter for a bit of amusement.

“I was suspended for replying to someone. They don’t seem to suspend people who gratuitously swear at you or say detrimental or obscene things about you. I am not sure why it is not a two-way street.

“It seems like selective outrage, but that is the world we live in.”

Newman, who hosts the You Cannot Be Serious podcast with Don Scott, will be unleashed on Twitter again in a couple of days.
