Radio personality Matt Tilley has departed Nova after just seven months.

Tilley finished up on Friday after joining in April to host mornings from 9am-midday.

Tilley was working alongside Troy Ellis, who is now filling that slot solo.

“Matt is a highly respected and quality broadcaster. We would like to thank him for the great job he’s done on Nova 100 but the station is going in a different direction next year,’’ said

Paul Jackson, Nova Entertainment Chief Programming and Marketing Officer.

It’s believed Nova will continue with its own local content in that timeslot next year.

Tilley, a former FOX FM favourite, told the Herald Sun when he started in April that he was determined to have fun.

“I am excited and nervous, it’s a nice feeling,’’ said Tilley, who had been off air since being axed by KIIS FM in November 2017.

“It needs to be fun, there’s no real template for it. I’ve been doing a little practice here and there. At least half of it won’t be in the dark.”
