The man at the centre of the protests against Kyle Sandilands over his offensive Virgin Mary video has called on the KIIS FM radio host to offer a genuine apology live on air.

The Sydney man who sparked protests against Kyle Sandilands after he posted an offensive video about the Virgin Mary has challenged the KIIS host to provide a genuine apology live on air.

Charlie Bakhos posted his original message to Sandilands on Thursday, calling the 48-year-old out on comments he made about the Virgin Mary. In the video he described Mary as a “liar” who got knocked up “behind a camel shed”.

Bakhos’ video, posted live from Lebanon’s Our Lady of Harissa statue, has since been viewed more than 64,000 times.

Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O are on leave this week and will return to the airwaves on Monday.

PROTESTS GATHER AT KIIS HQ AFTER VIDEO

The administrator of the Christian Lives Matter Facebook page last night called on Sandilands to step up and give a real apology rather than the statement issued by the shock-jock shortly after KIIS removed the video from its social media accounts.

“We have been praying for you. You said some harsh words to our Mother. You offended 1.7 billion Muslims around the world, 2.1 billion Christians around the world,” Bakhos said.

“Most importantly, what we want is a genuine apology. Send a genuine apology. You want ratings, you want respect. The best thing you can do right now is come out to our communities... and show a sincere, genuine apology.

“If I was you I’d invite some Christians and Muslims to your radio station, apologise live on air.”

Kyle Sandilands causes public outrage yet again

Bakhos new video comes after The Daily Telegraph revealed Sandilands had been in contact with NSW Police after receiving a number of death threats via social media, email and mobile phone.

“Absolutely Kyle has been getting death threats,” a source close to the radio host said.

“That is nothing new however. To be honest, if Kyle got a dollar for every death threat he received, he would be able to buy Tasmania. It has been something that has been going on forever. To be fair, this past week has been very busy though.”

Sandilands and co-host Jackie O Henderson are on a pre planned radio survey break holiday this week but will be back on air from Monday when they are expected to further address the scandal.

On Friday, Sandilands told The Daily Telegraph he was sorry for his comments.

“I’m sorry if I offended anyone with my comments,” Sandilands said. “Everyone is entitled to their own religious beliefs and I’m fully supportive of that right.”

KIIS owner Australian Radio Network (ARN) also issued an apology apologised.

“We echo Kyle’s statement and unreservedly apologise for any offence that may have been caused. Last week when this content ran, we immediately recognised that it wasn’t appropriate for distribution and it was removed immediately.”

Christian and Muslim protesters stationed outside KIIS FM’s Sydney studios on Monday also demanded a more sincere apology from the shock jock after condemnation of the video went global.

Bakhos also urged Sandilands to get behind former Wallabies star Israel Folau.

Folau was sacked by Rugby Australia in May after a posting on social media that homosexuals would go to hell.

RA claimed the post breached the professional code of conduct but Folau is seeking $10 million in compensation, saying his $4 million contract was unlawfully torn up.

“Israel Folau didn’t do nothing nearly as bad as what you did,” Bakhos said.

“Imagine you getting Israel Folau on your radio show and backing him up.”
