Melbourne philanthropist and socialite Patricia Ilhan celebrated her 60th birthday with a three-day Yellowstone themed extravaganza at her Glenlyon property.
Ilhan and husband Chris Blackman hosted almost 100 guests for a weekend of welcome cocktails and games, a party, glamping and a recovery lunch.
“It was probably a year in the making, I think we first had discussions about it maybe in June last year,’’ Ilhan said.
“It was worth it for the special memories. All milestones like that should be celebrated, you don’t know where you’ll be at 70 or 80.
“A lot of people got up on stage and had a sing, we had a DJ and just a lot of fun. The western theme, which was absolutely inspired by Yellowstone, was perfect for the weather and the occasion.”
Ilhan, widow of Crazy John’s founder John Ilhan, with whom she shares four children, was surrounded by family including daughter Yasmin who flew home from London for the week, and other daughter Hannah who is dating North Melbourne player Curtis Taylor.
Family friend Brooke Warne was also there, along with close friends Dr Chantel Thornton and Maryanne Giannarelli, and the architect of her new Brighton home which she hopes will be ready in 12 months.
“We had so many young people there and everyone was in long leather jackets and fur, and we had a ball,’’ Ilhan said.
“We held the party in a renovated old hay shed and an outdoor entertaining area we call the Lyon’s Den. Chris made a beautiful speech on stage, he’s usually pretty shy, but he said some beautiful words and got me a beautiful gift. It’s taken a week to recover I think.”
