A contender for the AFL’s top job, executive Travis Auld, married his partner on the weekend but her dress stole the show.

Top AFL executive Travis Auld has married his partner Megan O’Reilly.

Amid a spate of footy player weddings, Auld exchanged vows at West Beach Pavilion in St Kilda on Saturday.

O’Reilly wore a silver beaded and metallic gown with a touch of colour and a hot pink belt by Con Ilio and was styled by Meggy Smith.

Looking smitten as he watched O’Reilly walk up holding hands with her son Jack, the AFL’s chief financial officer and general manager of broadcasting and clubs, wore a white jacket, black bow tie and black pants as celebrant Tottie Goldsmith officiated the nuptials and Mike Snell performed.

Auld is considered to be one of the leading contenders to replace Gillon McLachlan in the top job as AFL CEO, with McLachlan and many colleagues attending the ceremony.

Auld met O’Reilly while working at AFL headquarters and she was head of people before being promoted and moving on to Melbourne & Olympic Parks as head of people and culture.

The couple stepped out together at the Brownlow and many other events in the few years they have been together.

It is Auld’s second wedding, he was formerly chief executive of the Gold Coast Suns and chief operating officer at the Essendon Football Club.

North Melbourne players were celebrating at the weekend after star footballer Luke McDonald married Brooklyn Pensini on the Gold Coast.

McDonald showed off the stunning wedding pictures on Sunday, with the couple surrounded by family and friends at Braeside Estate.

Guests included McDonald’s teammates Cam Zurhaar and Nick Larkey, with familiar faces among the groomsmen in St Kilda’s Jack Billings and former Roo Taylor Garner.

“Best day of our lives”, the couple wrote on social media.

McDonald proposed to Pensini, who wore a dress by Kyha Studios, in Port Macquarie in December last year.

Also on the Gold Coast at the weekend, Suns midfielder David Swallow staged a surprise wedding when a 30th birthday turned into nuptials for him and partner Georgia Homer.

The two Queensland celebrations join a spate of footy weddings, the most recent being Geelong’s Zach Tuohy in Ireland, Melbourne’s Alex Neal-Bullen, Richmond’s Jason Castagna and Essendon’s Patrick Ambrose.

Collingwood’s Steele Sidebottom, Greater Western Sydney co-captain Stephen Coniglio, GWS veteran Phil Davis, Sydney Swans’ Luke Parker and Richmond defender Nathan Broad have also tied the knot over the off-season.

TENNIS ACE IN DREAM WEDDING

Australian tennis player Storm Sanders has scored an ace with her dream wedding on Saturday.

Sanders, who was a huge part of Australia’s Billie Jean Cup campaign, returned to Australia to marry her partner Loughlin Hunter.

The pair exchanged vows at All Saints Estate Wine in Wahgunyah, Victoria.

Among the bridesmaids was fellow tennis player Daria Saville, with many other players among the guests including Sam Stosur, Maddison Inglis, Jaimee Fourlis, Priscilla Hon and Ashling Sumner.

“My sista’s wedding!” Saville captioned pictures.

“An absolute honour to be in your #bridesquad.”

Australia has climbed to No. 1 in the Billie Jean Cup rankings after making the final in Glasgow and going down to Switzerland.

Sanders was a force in the singles, claiming some big scalps along the way.

She reached a career-high ranking of 119 last year in October and is currently ranked 10 in doubles.

She won her first grand slam title this year, winning the US Open mixed doubles title alongside John Peers.
