Melbourne captain Max Gawn and wife Jessica are expecting their first child.
The baby news adds to the Demons’ joy this year on the back of a powerhouse 9-1 start to the season.
Jessica posted pictures of her baby bump on Sunday night with the caption: “Baby Gawn coming October”.
Jessica told the Herald Sun the couple is very excited and has been in the process of telling their friends.
Max joked on Nova breakfast radio: “Yes, 17 weeks, due around Cup Day which is a bit of a dilemma for me. Not sure where I’ll be … if I’m two legs up in the quaddie do I leave.
“It’s very exciting. I’m feeling OK, everyone’s warning you that it’s going to change your life but I’m pretty confident I’m going to stay the same person.”
He added that Jessica went “rogue” and put up the photo without telling him.
The Gawns, who married on New Year’s Day last year on the Mornington Peninsula, aren’t the only Demons expecting with former captain Nathan Jones and wife Jerri to welcome twins this year.
The couple has been living in Blairgowrie with Gawn selling his first home in East Bentleigh last December.
“After coming back from the hub it was the perfect place to be down the coast,’’ Gawn told the Herald Sun.
“I assume it’ll get incredibly busy come summer, but at the moment it’s the right time (to move).
“I’ve been bragging about it (in Blairgowrie) so a few other boys might join us.”
The couple were inundated with messages of congratulations with Jessica currently celebrating her mum’s 60th birthday in Queensland.
