Logan Shine, the wife of Western Bulldogs star Jason Johannisen, has paid tribute to him for supporting her lifelong dream of competing on Australian Survivor.

Shine first applied to go on the series seven years ago and was successful after re-applying last year.

“I was passed up for Shonee (Bowtell) at the time because they said we were too similar so it was on the cards, it was just a matter of timing,’’ Shine said.

“I had a feeling at the start of last year that if I applied again I’d get on.

“We just had to figure out the management of our children and (Jason’s) footy training and everything turned out alright.

“I’d been a fan of the show for a long time and had done a deep dive into the American series. Jase was incredibly supportive. I sat by and watched him achieve his dreams so it was time for me to chase mine.”

The couple share two children, Lola, 5 and Ziggy, 2, with Shine also heading back to university to finish her marketing degree.

Billed as the most explosive season yet, she is part of the brains team on Australian Survivor Brains v Brawn II premiering on Network Ten on February 17.

She said she prepared by doing some pilates classes and tried to gain weight for the experience, but hadn’t done a lot of physical preparation.

Shine isn’t fazed by any potential backlash from viewers.

“I figured people either love me or hate me,’’ she said.

“Generally in life that’s how it is and I’ve had experience with it in the past. I’m not too concerned about public opinion — I don’t need everyone to like me.

“It was probably the world’s worst kept secret in the end. It’s the best thing I ever did and a lifelong dream accomplished.”
