Love Island’s Emily Ward declares her fling with Mitch Hibberd “old news”

A former Love Island “bomb” says she’s frustrated her fling with former AFL player Mitch Hibberd is making waves again.

Emily Ward is frustrated to be a talking point on the new season of Love Island.

Love Island’s “best bomb ever” Emily Ward says she’s shocked her fling with Mitch Hibberd has become a talking point in the villa.

Ward caught the eye of the former AFL player during last season which caused tension and many tears between him and Tina Provis.

Hibberd was asked about Ward by former Married At First Sight favourite Al Perkins on Monday night and admitted they hooked up.

“They’ve been talking about me the whole time, it’s more frustrating than anything,’’ Ward said.

Ward’s fling with Hibberd has been a strong storyline in the new season.

“It was only the one time. We didn’t date or see each other, we had some sexual chemistry and people are like ‘oh the drama’.

“Two single people hooked up. It’s old news, I’m not the reason they broke up.”

Ward, who was a finalist in the Miss Universe Australia pageant, said she and Hibberd got together after his split from Provis but she has no interest in pursuing it further.

“I’m definitely more of a relationship type of person rather than hook ups here and there,’’ she said.

“I don’t think I could have gone in as a bomb again so good on them for doing it, it’s excellent drama.

“I hadn’t spoken to a guy for two years because of Covid and I was an idiot as I hadn’t watched the show before I went on. It was the dumbest thing I could have ever done. I would have been a lot more confident having watched other seasons.

“I didn’t get any warning that I was going to get so many shoutouts this season though.

“Austin and the OG Mitch are my type. But I’m trying to date out of the social media realm and athletes.”
