Jacqui Felgate to take on new role as fill-in breakfast host on 3AW over summer

The popular presenter is teaming up with footy champion Jimmy Bartel and says she has “never been happier”.

Jacqui Felgate is making her mark at 3AW, set to continue as breakfast fill-in host over summer.

Felgate teamed up with footy champion Jimmy Bartel to spearhead the 3AW breakfast show during the September radio ratings break.

After an impressive stint, the pair will move into the chairs vacated by Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft for two weeks from December 12 through to Christmas.

“We were really lucky to do it in grand final week and we just had this great rapport,’’ Felgate said.

“Jimmy is great fun, it was awesome to work with him. Ross and Russ, it’s such an iconic radio show, so it’s lovely.

“I just love radio. I always did little bits here and there but to be able to host my own show is fantastic.”

Felgate, who quit the Channel 7 news team in April, is already part of the breakfast show in a food reviewer role.

And she is joining the footy commentary team next season, most likely as the host of Friday night football as part of the station’s revamped coverage.

“I’ve never been happier,’’ she said. “What I do have for the first time in my life is a work/life balance.”

Felgate is also the inaugural ambassador for The Petspiration Foundation, encouraging people to get behind the Christmas Project initiative.

Until Christmas Day, the initiative will be raising money for its charity partners across the country so they can gift Christmas wishes.

“When PETstock came to me and said would you like to be an ambassador for this, I didn’t hesitate as it’s such a good way to empower a better future for pets and people,’’ she said.

“We lost our rescue dog Coco before we went overseas and had to put her down. She was such a wonderful part of our family. We still have Hugo and he’s actually like my son.

“I bought him before I met (my husband) Michael and one of the first dates we went on was to pick up the dog.”
