Brendan Fevola has a new radio role: Telling dad jokes on the pop-up FM station, Little Fox. “I’ve already tried the jokes on my own kids,” Fevola told Confidential.
“They don’t think I’m funny. The jokes didn’t work.”
Fevola, a FOX FM breakfast show co-host, will contribute to Little Fox, a radio station aimed at under-10s, alongside other Southern Cross Austereo stars Fifi Box, Carrie Bickmore, Tommy Little, Dave Hughes and Ed Kavalee.
Little Fox will program music, stories, mini lessons, fun facts, and feature a shout-out line where kids can request their favourite songs.
“My kids are always on their iPads and watching TV, but to be able to play, and listen to a radio station that helps and educates them as well, is a good thing,” Fevola said.
“It’s a bit of relief for the parents, too.”
Fevola, and wife Alex, are parents to four kids, aged 20, 14, 10, and 18 months.
As a kid, Fevola said he used to listen to the popular countdown show, Take 40 Australia.
“I’m not really a music person, but I would listen in to see what was No.1,” he said.
“When I was going to school, I used to listen to the FOX. It weird that I’m now on the FOX with people listening to me.”
Gemma Fordham, Head of the Hit Network, says Little Fox aims to provide “relief, connection and entertainment for those in the trenches taking their kids through remote learning at home” during Victoria’s second lockdown.
